Book
Description:
Skylar has rules. He has never strayed from
those rules. And yet Destiny has him breaking every last one of them.
Destiny was looking forward to a bit of
solitude in the north. She figured surrounding herself with her two besties, at
an expensive spa retreat, would beat away the winter blues. That was the plan.
Destiny liked plans. But plans don’t always work out the way you want them to.
Skylar never expected to find three ladies
trudging through the snow. But after finding them stranded, in the middle of
nowhere, during the biggest snow storm of the year, he’s forced to invite
Destiny and her friends back to his cabin. Though he tried to ignore what was
subtly unravelling between them, he couldn’t discount their attraction. The way
Destiny could read into his thoughts and the way his jealousy raged at the
thought of his brother taking her to his bed, he knew he had better stake his
claim.
But when tragedy strikes, torn from her arms at lightning speed, Skylar’s left to wonder whether he would ever find his destiny.

My Review:
Finding Destiny by Christa Simpson
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Destiny is heading to a spa over Valentine's Day weekend with two of her girl friends. She is tired of holidays that make single people feel bad, and she doesn't have a lot of faith in men right now. She and her friends are caught in a winter storm on they way to the spa when their truck breaks down. They are rescued by a couple brothers who have a cabin near by. Skylar isn't looking for any relationship that lasts longer than a night, but he is very quickly attracted to Destiny and finds himself wanting more with her.
As with many novellas, it is sometimes hard to fully connect with the characters and story in a shorter period of time. I think we do get a sense that both Skylar and Destiny are experiencing feelings that neither was expecting, but it still feels like some of the feelings come into play a little quickly. A tragedy takes place, and I think it is after that point when we start to see that Skylar and Destiny are a good support for one another in addition to their strong physical attraction. I thought Matty was really obnoxious, but I think that was sort of the point. All in all if you are looking for a quick read with a touch of angst and some steamy scenes, this might be a good pick for you.
