Raine by J.C. Valentine
My rating: 3.5 of 5 stars
Raine is a shy unassuming girl who suddenly catches the attention of the cute popular quarterback and finds herself in a relationship she never imagined. What seems like a dream for several months suddenly turns awful and Raine's life is changed forever. After her life changes completely, she finds a source of support she never could have predicted.
Raine is an easy character to like. She is a good person who seems to be repeatedly victimized and at times it almost feels like she is being punched for being hurt. Through all she faces, she stays strong and determined and I was cheering her on throughout the story. There are multiple characters in this story who are straight-up villains. Terrible people who really just seem to want to hurt others. Then there is Jerret. Whoo! He is sexy and generous at levels that make it impossible not to fall in love with him. These characters face some serious challenges and watching their relationships change and grow as they deal with the situation they are in was rewarding. I read this straight through once I started. I would gladly read more by this author in the future. 3.5 stars.

I just love Raine. So far this is my favorite by J.C. Valentine. She did an amazing job with it. I loved it so much that I even bought 3 paperbacks to give to close friends and I gifted several copies too.
ReplyDeleteThis was definitely a goodie! I also liked That First Kiss by the same author. After reading both of those I'm definitely going to go back and read more of her books!
