So when he surprises her in the stacks, looking just as handsome as she remembered, she can’t deny her attraction to the once forbidden man she’s wasted years dreaming about.
Tristan Everett knows having a drink with a former student, especially one as enticing as Melanie Potter, is a mistake. But he takes one look at her and knows he has to have her. Even if it’s only for a night.
When Tristan asks for five days of submission, Mel agrees without a moment’s hesitation…But life is never as simple as saying yes and as their lives threaten to pull them apart, they must ask, Is this love or lust?
The Stacks was originally published as three novellas.

My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Melanie returns to her alma mater two years after graduating and has a chance encounter with a former professor who she always had a strong attraction to. Tristan also felt a strong attraction to Melanie when she was in his class, but his professionalism prevented him from even considering anything that could jeopardize his job or her learning experience. Now that she is no longer his student, Tristan makes Melanie an offer of 5 days of sexual pleasure while she is in town, and Melanie quickly agrees. After five days together both realize that they don't want to let go of the connection they have found, but Melanie is on her way to graduate school where she will be working hard and living some distance away from Tristan. Melanie knows that she already feels too much for her former professor, and Tristan makes it clear he doesn't want a relationship, but the more time they spend together the more they realize a relationship is inevitable.
There is no denying the sexual chemistry between Mel and Tristan. The sexual tension between the two of them was palpable throughout the story. Melanie is an easy character to care about. She is smart, kind, and honest about what she wants. Tristan was tougher to get a read on and connect to. While there was no denying his attraction to Mel, it was difficult to determine whether he would be able to allow himself to experience any deeper emotions.
This story was pretty predictable, but was engaging and enjoyable nonetheless. I thought the ending was a little abrupt and I felt like some of the challenges the characters faced in the last part of the book came and disappeared rather quickly. I would have liked some more character and story development, but mostly because these were characters I'd like to have known better. I would read more by this author in the future.
