Running From Forever by Ashley Wilcox
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Kayla leaves her boyfriend of 3 and a half years to take her dream job in Manhattan. She knows that accepting his proposal isn't going to make her happy and she knows that she needs to leave in order to live the life she has been working towards. She quickly finds her life full of opportunity, passion, friendship, and that good things and bad things aren't always what they seem.
This book was a pleasant surprise. It was a quick read, but the characters and story felt fully-developed. We get a pretty good idea about Kayla's past and who she is trying to be now. I loved the chance to see the story move through the three main characters' perspectives. I was sort of all over the place with my feelings for Miles, but I made and solidified my opinion after reading through his section. I have only love for Merrick- spectacular man, he is!
My only gripe is with the insta-love. I am all for instant intense attraction and a swiftly developing relationship, but I really feel that 5 days is a little soon for everyone to be busting out the L-word. Especially when one of the characters in question is experiencing some emotions that are very out of character. I also enjoyed the fast friendship between two of the characters- but again everything was just a little too quick for the bff status. Overall- I really enjoyed this, and I will be reading more by this author.
This book is #5 in the series, and a spin-off, but can be read as a stand-alone (I haven't yet read the others in the series, and didn't feel any disconnections to the story or characters because of it).
