Gabe and Isabelle have been attracted to one another from afar for a while. Isabelle escapes from an abusive and controlling relationship only to have her ex try to have her arrested for grand theft auto. She is rescued from Gabe and despite feeling like she shouldn't take him up on his offer of a place to stay, Isabelle doesn't have many other good options. They are very attracted to one another, but Gabe doesn't want to treat her like the women he usually has sex with, and Isabelle doesn't want to put her life in the hands of a man she doesn't know if she can trust. It is important for her to establish her independence and then explore her strong attraction to Gabriel.
So far all the books in this series have been nice easy reads. There is some difficult emotional content in each, but for the most part things get resolved quickly and there aren't a lot of surprises. That said, these are likable characters and I find myself enjoying spending time with them and wanting things to work out for them. Gabriel wants to be in control in the bedroom, but he wants Isabelle to call all the shots in her own life. He is a sexy and powerful man who is loyal to his family, and a wonderful person to have on your team. Isabelle doesn't have an emotional connection to her family, and she has been isolated in her controlling relationship. Watching her re-establish her independence, and develop a support system for herself was enjoyable. The books in this series are easy sexy reads, and I will gladly read more by this author in the future.
