Temptation by Robin Covington- Review!
About Temptation:
She needs to be good. Five years ago, Kit Landry was homeless and alone at sixteen. Determined to ditch her crappy life, she moved to Nashville with only $200, her guitar, and a notebook full of songs. She hit it big as America’s country sweetheart, but a year of living like a rock star plus a stint in rehab has killed any good will she had with her label. The suits have ordered Kit to shape up or ship out of the limelight. The last thing she needs is a hot, sexy distraction with a sinful smile. He doesn’t know the meaning of the word. Max Butler is as far from a celebrity as you can get and he likes it that way. A Nashville firefighter, he’s living the single life with a revolving door of parties, friends, and a different woman in his bed every night. When his normal life suddenly collides with the girl on his favorite Rolling Stone cover, he sees the perfect chance to fulfill his ultimate fantasy and see just how bad Kit can be. Sometimes bad is so very good. With three weeks until Kit leaves for her big tour, Max promises to give her a break from being the good girl--no strings attached. But when hot days lead to sultry nights, the lines get blurred and suddenly three weeks of bad might not be good enough.
My Review:
Temptation by Robin Covington
My rating: 3.5 of 5 stars
Kit is a 21 year old country star who has been trying hard to be good. She went off the rock star rails and has been trying to make sure she keeps the studio happy. For the past year she has been making sure she keeps herself healthy and takes care of everyone else. She hasn't been in any kind of relationship and hasn't wanted one, until she meets Max. She does know that a relationship would be impossible with anyone, but she certainly wants sex with Max before she heads out on tour. Max Butler is not a celebrity, but he is a sexy fire fighter, and he does save Kit from a burning building. He knows who she is and has had many a sexual fantasy about her. He doesn't want to be in the spotlight, and doesn't want any part of a relationship that last longer than a few sexual encounters. Of course things get more complicated as Kit and Max experience some really explosive chemistry and an emotional connection neither expected.
There isn't a ton of unpredictability with this book, but it is a good quick read with a lot of sexy heat, and a lot of heart. Kit is easy to like, and so is Max. For a shorter book, the characters are pretty well developed as is the story line. This book does a good job of showing how even when two people want each other and have strong feelings sometimes life circumstances get in the way and make things extremely challenging. Even though it was hard to see Kit and Max hurt one another as they both attempted to protect themselves and one another, it was also nice to see them admit when they were wrong and try to make up for it. This was a nice sexy read, and I would read more by this author in the future.
