Dark Frame (East Park #2) by Iris Blaire- Review!
Dark Frame by Iris Blaire
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Evan is about to start grad school at Harvard, and Dallas is leaving for seven months to be part of a research team in Costa Rica. They have only had a couple months together and now they are facing much more time than that apart. Evan feels like maybe their intense feelings for one another were just part of their job, so she cuts things off with Dallas as he is leaving for Costa Rica.
Britain is struggling to keep the magazine together as the new owner attempts to take over all creative control and turn it into a raunchy, cheap imitation of the erotic, sensual magazine Brit created. The fall shoot is taking place in Boston where Evan/Rylan will make her last appearance in the magazine. They are put up in a old creepy mansion where some very eccentric and kinky people once lived, and where they are expected to shoot an edgy Halloween issue. Britain's older brother's best friend and object of her teenage lust shows up to model for the magazine, and her lust for him returns full-blaze. Dallas returns to see if he can put together the pieces of his broken relationship with Evan, and to participate in the photo shoot.
I'm just going to start by saying that I had a rough time with the beginning of this book. Why? Because watching Evan and Dallas face challenges in their relationship that were tearing them apart was terrible for me. I love them both. A lot. More than people should probably love characters in books. It was rough. That said- once the story got rolling and Britain started working her sexy photo magic, I was nicely amped up again.
Britain's POV was great to experience. She was an important character in Exposure, but we really only get to know her from the outside. It was exciting getting to see her youthful fantasies come to fruition and see her get in on some of the action that she is always relegated to watching as the photographer.
As with Exposure- I was totally immersed in this story and invested in the characters. I started reading and didn't stop until there was no more left to read. I read a lot of books in this genre, and like a lot of books in this genre. However, I haven't been revved up like this one since I read Exposure. Blaire has a way of making the sexy stuff über-sexy. It is fantastic, and I want more of it. I'll be re-reading this and the first book whenever I need a go-to series that is guaranteed to give me the the exact right amount of angst, romance, and smoking hot sex.
