Synopsis
I, Aidan Stone, got the girl. My beautiful Eevie is sweet and sassy, and she owns my heart like no other. I promised her, I’d always protect her, and I meant it, but shit just got serious. Blackmail. Extortion. And Eevie is the target. Sometimes the past comes back to haunt us. Sometimes, no matter how hard you try to distance yourself from it, it comes back and bites you on the arse. And in walks Mr Hotshot Detective, Ryan Clark, thinkin’ he can save the day and take my girl. Well, I’ve got news for him.

My Review:
Spike (Spark, #2)Spike by Jennifer Ryder
My rating: 3.5 of 5 stars

Eevie and Aidan are happy and in love as they move forward in their relationship. Eevie is studying hard to finish her degree and Aidan is working and doing extremely well at his racing events. Things seem to be going well until Eevie finds herself the victim of blackmail and extortion and the source turns out to be surprising and something that could cause a lot of tension between Aidan and Eevie as they try to keep each other safe from harm.

The chemistry between Eevie and Aidan is just as hot if not hotter than it was in Spark. The sources of danger in this story are complex, but it is good to see them finally handle things in the right way. The emotional connection between Aidan and Eevie continues to strengthen and it was rewarding to see them both getting what they deserve out of a relationship despite the challenges they face. We meet some interesting new characters in this book and I am looking forward to seeing where things go with them.

 Excerpt
“What’s happened?” Eevie asks, giggling as she straightens her skirt. She inspects the pan closer, and bites her bottom lip. “Oh.”
“I was too busy eating you, I fuckin’ forgot about dinner.” I take the pan over to the sink, and steam billows into a mushroom cloud as cool water hits the pan. I can’t help but laugh. Eevie’s satisfied, I’ve got a cramp in my dick and my neck, and dinner is ruined. Perfect.
“Oh, babe.” Eevie laughs so hard that her eyes water and she can barely spit her words out. She holds her stomach and bends over. Christ! She might even wet herself. “Are you … still … hungry?” she finally gets out, and I laugh even harder.
I lean her up against the bench, my hard cock rubbing against her stomach. “Yes, I’m still hungry, but there’s another problem I’d like to solve first.”
“Come on then,” she says, wiping the tears from her eyes. I smack her on the arse and tug her arm towards the bedroom.
“And then, we’re ordering pizza,” I growl.

Eevie squeals as I tackle her into the soft quilt on the bed.
