My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This novella gives us a look at the summer between Laney's freshman and sophomore year. She and Dane have very different ideas about how to decorate her new duplex. They each have strong opinions, and both think they may be able to use their intense sexual chemistry to encourage the other to agree with their ideas. Dane is starting to feel that by taking over his father's business affairs, he is missing out on acting his age and pursing his own interests in college.
Dane and Laney's relationship is still going strong and it is great to spend more time with them and "the crew". Watching them deal with their very different opinions is great to watch. It is clear that no matter what, each cares deeply for the other. Sawyer is a bit distant and it is obvious he is going through something right now. After reading Emerge, we can sort of guess what some of that might be, but I am eager to see where his story goes. This was a great way get a little taste of what everyone's summer looked like as well as the status of everyone's relationship and living situation going into the next school year. I am excited for book #3 to come out!
