Storm by Carian Cole- Blog Tour and Review

Book: Storm (ashes & embers #1)
Author: Carian Cole
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Synopsis
The calm before the storm…
I lived in the quiet stillness.
I felt the wind rustle, warning me, telling me to get out of its path.
But I didn’t.
I never stood a chance.
A series of weather and road mishaps leaves me trapped in the middle of a blizzard with a complete stranger.  In the back of a pickup truck. For forty-eight freakin’ hours.
A stranger with long hair, tattoos, and rippling with muscle.
A stranger with an insanely sexy voice and a wicked smile that turned my insides to jelly.
A stranger who held me in his arms, calmed me, and then set a fire in me that I couldn’t put out.
Storm lives up to his name. Beautiful. Dangerously inviting. Tumultuous. Dark. A clash of hot and cold.
He’s used to getting everything he wants.
And now he wants me.
Some people chase storms for the beautiful thrill. What happens when the storm chases you?

My Review:
Storm (Ashes & Embers, #1)Storm by Carian Cole
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Evelyn and Storm meet wen they become stranded together after Storm finds Evelyn stranded on the road after her car breaks down only to have his truck crash when they nearly hit a deer. They are trapped together in the small space for a couple days and that time together sparks something in both of them that causes them to reevaluate their lives. Evelyn is living with her boyfriend of the past 12 years, and though she knows she isn't happy, she feels a level of comfort in the relationship. Spending time with Storm has her realizing that he cam make her feel things without even having sex with her that she has never felt with her boyfriend. Storm has no intention of being in a relationship and his lifestyle makes it easy for him to keep a few bed buddies on call without having to really get involved with anyone. Evelyn doesn't know who he is and for the first time in a long time he has the chance to see if someone will like and accept him for who he really is and not for his fame.

There were a lot of things I enjoyed about this story. The main thing I struggled with was how unkind and defensive Evie got whenever she was insecure or unsure of something. The way she lashed out at Storm repeatedly had me wondering how they could form the connection they did with one another. I also didn't like shat she accepted almost no responsibility for her choices and actions. The "why did you make me do that" bit got a little old for me. Storm seemed pretty great, and at times it seemed like he was way too good to be true. I didn't mind that so much because who doesn't love a good fantasy? The chemistry between Storm and Evelyn is definitely hot, and even with my irritation towards her, I was really hoping that she would get her act to get her and take the obvious step towards happiness that Storm was offering her. We get a glimpse of some other interesting characters, and I would read more in this series to find out more about them.

Meet The Author

I have a passion for the bad boys, those covered in tattoos, sexy smirks, ripped jeans, fast cars, motorcycles and of course, the sweet girls that try to tame them and win their hearts. My debut series, Ashes & Embers, follows the lives of rock band members as they find, and sometimes lose, the loves of their lives.
My first novel in the Ashes & Embers series, Storm, was published in September of 2014.
Born and raised a Jersey girl, I now reside in beautiful New Hampshire with my husband and our multitude of furry pets and spend most of my time writing, reading, and vacuuming.

*Storm has a HEA and is book 1 of the Ashes & Embers series but all books can be read as a stand-alone.  No cliffhangers.  Vandal (book 2) coming in January 2015. ***Warning. This is an adult romance book and is not intended for anyone under the age of 18. It contains graphic sex scenes and explicit language.***
